1982 United States Grand Prix West

The United States Grand Prix West 1982 was the 3rd round of the 1982 F1 season, and took place at the Long Beach in California, USA, on April 4th.

Niki Lauda won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Keke Rosberg, and Riccardo Patrese completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 18th position of the grid.

Andrea de Cesaris started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 33rd.

These included, Eddie Cheever, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 59, Andrea de Cesaris, Brian Henton, Roberto Guerrero, Jacques Laffite, Nelson Piquet, Derek Daly, Alain Prost, and Didier Pironi, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Jean-Pierre Jarier, who had a transmission problem on lap 26, and Mario Andretti, René Arnoux, Bruno Giacomelli, Eliseo Salazar, and Manfred Winkelhock, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars.
