1990 United States Grand Prix

The United States Grand Prix 1990 was the 1st round of the 1990 F1 season, and took place at the Phoenix street circuit in Phoenix, USA, on March 11th.

Ayrton Senna won the race after starting in the 5th position, followed by Jean Alesi, and Thierry Boutsen completing the podium.

Gerhard Berger started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had a problem with the clutch, and had to retire on lap 44th.

The reace did not end without incidents... 20 drivers out of the original 35 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Paolo Barilla, who had physical problems on lap 54, Aguri Suzuki, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 53, Nigel Mansell, and Gerhard Berger, both had a problem with the clutch, Gregor Foitek, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 39, Olivier Grouillard, who retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars on lap 39, Andrea de Cesaris, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 25, Alain Prost, who had an oil leak on lap 21, Ivan Capelli, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 20, Derek Warwick, and Martin Donnelly, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Nicola Larini, who had a throttle issue on lap 4, and Gabriele Tarquini, Yannick Dalmas, Claudio Langes, Gary Brabham, and Bertrand Gachot, all of whom did not prequalify.

There was also action outise of the track itself, and the stwearts decided to disqualify Philippe Alliot at the end of the race.
