The United States Grand Prix 1979 was the 15th round of the 1979 F1 season, and took place at the Watkins Glen in New York State, USA, on October 7th.

Gilles Villeneuve won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by René Arnoux, and Didier Pironi completing the podium.

Alan Jones started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had a wheel problem, and had to retire on lap 36th.
