This qualifying was divided into 2 sessions. A single lap with low fuel on Saturday afternoon, and a single lap with race fuel on Sunday monring. The two times would then be agregated in order to determine the grid order. This quali format was very unpoupar, and only lasted for the first 6 races of the season. After that the quali was reverted to one-lap qualifying format for the rest of the season.
