The reace did not end without incidents... 7 drivers out of the original 20 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.
These included, Giorgio Pantano, who had issues with the steering of the car on lap 51, Juan Pablo Montoya, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 46, Christian Klien, who had a throttle issue on lap 43, Olivier Panis, and Nick Heidfeld, both experienced an hydraulic malfunction, and Gianmaria Bruni, and Zsolt Baumgartner, both lost control and spun off the track.

Qualifying
During the 2024 season the qualifying format was held entirely on Saturday, and was structured as follows:
- Drivers would compelte a single flying lap, in the order the clasified in the previous race.
- Following the order from that attempt, drivers would complete another single flying lap to decide the final grid order.
This time around, Michael Schumacher managed to secure the pole position with a time of 1:15.022 seconds, 0.617 seconds faster than Juan Pablo Montoya, who completed the first line of the grid.
