1999 Spanish Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix 1999 was the 5th round of the 1999 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmeló, Spain, on May 30th.

Mika Häkkinen won the race from the pole, followed by David Coulthard, and Michael Schumacher completing the podium.

Incidents

The reace did not end without incidents... 10 drivers out of the original 22 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Luca Badoer, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 50, Jacques Villeneuve, Alessandro Zanardi, Olivier Panis, and Marc Gené, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Pedro Diniz, Johnny Herbert, and Jean Alesi, all of whom had a transmission problem, and Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who had problems with the halfshaft on lap 35.

There was also action outise of the track itself, and the stwearts decided to disqualify Rubens Barrichello.
