1987 Spanish Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix 1987 was the 13th round of the 1987 F1 season, and took place at the Circuito de Jerez in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, on September 27th.

Nigel Mansell won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Alain Prost, and Stefan Johansson completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 11th position of the grid.

Nelson Piquet started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 4th.

These included, Eddie Cheever, who run out of fuel on lap 70, Michele Alboreto, and Gerhard Berger, both suffered an engine malfunction, Thierry Boutsen, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 66, Jonathan Palmer, and René Arnoux, both retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Christian Danner, who had a transmission problem on lap 50, Alessandro Nannini, who had a turbo failure on lap 45, Teo Fabi, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 40, Andrea de Cesaris, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 26, Piercarlo Ghinzani, who had issues with the ignition on lap 24, Pascal Fabre, who had a problem with the clutch on lap 10, and Nicola Larini, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 8.
