1979 Spanish Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix 1979 was the 5th round of the 1979 F1 season, and took place at the Jarama in Madrid, Spain, on April 29th.

Patrick Depailler won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Carlos Reutemann, and Mario Andretti completing the podium.

Jacques Laffite started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he suffered an engine malfunction, and had to retire on lap 15th.

These included, Niki Lauda, who suffered a water leak on lap 63, Hector Rebaque, Elio de Angelis, Clay Regazzoni, John Watson, and Jacques Laffite, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Alan Jones, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 54, James Hunt, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 26, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, who had a turbo failure on lap 21, and Nelson Piquet, who had an problem with the injection on lap 15.
