1972 Spanish Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix 1972 was the 3rd round of the 1972 F1 season, and took place at the Jarama in Madrid, Spain, on May 1st.

Emerson Fittipaldi won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Jacky Ickx, who originally had the pole position, and Clay Regazzoni completing the podium.

These included, Jackie Stewart, Reine Wisell, Rolf Stommelen, and Alex Soler-Roig, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, Chris Amon, Denny Hulme, and Jean-Pierre Beltoise, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, François Cevert, who had issues with the ignition on lap 65, Peter Gethin, and Howden Ganley, both suffered an engine malfunction, Mario Andretti, who suffered a loss in oil pressure on lap 23, Mike Hailwood, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 20, Ronnie Peterson, who had a fuel leak on lap 16, and Niki Lauda, who had a problem with the differential on lap 7.
