1973 South African Grand Prix

The South African Grand Prix 1973 was the 3rd round of the 1973 F1 season, and took place at the Kyalami in Midrand, South Africa, on March 3rd.

Jackie Stewart won the race with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 16th position of the grid, followed by Peter Revson, and Emerson Fittipaldi completing the podium.

Denny Hulme started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 5th.

These included, Jody Scheckter, Niki Lauda, and Jackie Oliver, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Carlos Pace, Dave Charlton, Clay Regazzoni, Jacky Ickx, and Mike Hailwood, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, Eddie Keizan, Jean-Pierre Jarier, François Cevert, and Mike Beuttler, all of whom did not classify, Wilson Fittipaldi, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 52, Jackie Pretorius, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 35, and Jean-Pierre Beltoise, who had a problem with the clutch on lap 4.
