1971 South African Grand Prix

The South African Grand Prix 1971 was the 1st round of the 1971 F1 season, and took place at the Kyalami in Midrand, South Africa, on March 6th.

Mario Andretti won the race after starting in the 4th position, followed by Jackie Stewart, who originally had the pole position, and Clay Regazzoni completing the podium.

These included, Emerson Fittipaldi, Dave Charlton, Jackie Pretorius, and Alex Soler-Roig, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, John Surtees, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 56, François Cevert, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 45, Howden Ganley, who had physical problems on lap 42, Pedro Rodríguez, and Jo Siffert, both suffered from an overall car overhating, John Love, who had a problem with the differential on lap 30, Peter Gethin, who had a fuel leak on lap 7, and Jo Bonnier, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 5.
