The South African Grand Prix 1968 was the 1st round of the 1968 F1 season, and took place at the Kyalami in Midrand, South Africa, on January 1st.

Jim Clark won the race from the pole, followed by Graham Hill, and Jochen Rindt completing the podium.

These included, Jackie Pretorius, who did not classify on lap 71, Dan Gurney, Jacky Ickx, and Brian Redman, all of whom had an oil leak, Jo Bonnier, and Sam Tingle, both suffered from an overall car overhating, Jackie Stewart, Basil van Rooyen, and Jack Brabham, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Pedro Rodríguez, and Mike Spence, both had a fuel system failure, Andrea de Adamich, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 13, Dave Charlton, who had a problem with the differential on lap 3, and Ludovico Scarfiotti, who had problems with the water pipe on lap 2.
