1962 South African Grand Prix

The South African Grand Prix 1962 was the 9th round of the 1962 F1 season, and took place at the Prince George Circuit in Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, on December 29th.

Graham Hill won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Bruce McLaren, and Tony Maggs completing the podium.

Jim Clark started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had an oil leak, and had to retire on lap 62nd.

These included, Carel Godin de Beaufort, who had a fuel system failure on lap 70, Jim Clark, who had an oil leak on lap 62, Doug Serrurier, who had a problem with the radiator of the car on lap 62, Roy Salvadori, who had a fuel leak on lap 56, Mike Harris, who had a problem witht he wheel bearing on lap 31, John Surtees, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 26, Trevor Taylor, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 11, and Gary Hocking, Syd van der Vyver, Tony Settember, and Sam Tingle, all of whom withdrew.
