The San Marino Grand Prix 1999 was the 3rd round of the 1999 F1 season, and took place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy, on May 2nd.

Michael Schumacher won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by David Coulthard, and Rubens Barrichello completing the podium.

Mika Häkkinen started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 17th.

From 1996 to 2002 the grid order was decided in a single qualifying session which would last 1 hour. During this time each driver had a maximun of 12 laps to set their best time.
