These included, Jyrki Järvilehto, Johnny Herbert, Karl Wendlinger, Ukyo Katayama, and Érik Comas, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Alessandro Zanardi, Michael Andretti, Derek Warwick, Rubens Barrichello, Mark Blundell, and Riccardo Patrese, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Ayrton Senna, who experienced an hydraulic malfunction on lap 42, Jean Alesi, who had a problem with the clutch on lap 40, Christian Fittipaldi, who had issues with the steering of the car on lap 36, Damon Hill, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 20, and Andrea de Cesaris, Gerhard Berger, and Thierry Boutsen, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox.
