1990 San Marino Grand Prix

The San Marino Grand Prix 1990 was the 3rd round of the 1990 F1 season, and took place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy, on May 13th.

Riccardo Patrese won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Gerhard Berger, and Alessandro Nannini completing the podium.

Ayrton Senna started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had a wheel problem, and had to retire on lap 3rd.

The reace did not end without incidents... 20 drivers out of the original 35 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Éric Bernard, and Aguri Suzuki, both had a problem with the clutch, Olivier Grouillard, Andrea de Cesaris, and Ayrton Senna, all of whom had a wheel problem, Nigel Mansell, Gregor Foitek, and Thierry Boutsen, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Stefano Modena, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 31, Maurício Gugelmin, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 24, Emanuele Pirro, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 2, Ivan Capelli, and Satoru Nakajima, both retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Roberto Moreno, who had a throttle issue on lap 0, Pierluigi Martini, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 0, and Bertrand Gachot, Claudio Langes, Bruno Giacomelli, Gabriele Tarquini, and Yannick Dalmas, all of whom did not prequalify.
