1986 Portuguese Grand Prix

The Portuguese Grand Prix 1986 was the 14th round of the 1986 F1 season, and took place at the Autódromo do Estoril in Estoril, Portugal, on September 21st.

Nigel Mansell won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Alain Prost, and Nelson Piquet completing the podium.

Ayrton Senna started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 4th.

These included, Ayrton Senna, who run out of fuel on lap 69, Riccardo Patrese, Philippe Alliot, Philippe Streiff, Martin Brundle, and Piercarlo Ghinzani, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Patrick Tambay, and Alessandro Nannini, both did not classify, Gerhard Berger, and Andrea de Cesaris, both lost control and spun off the track, Keke Rosberg, and Derek Warwick, both suffered from electrical problems, Alan Jones, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 10, and Huub Rothengatter, and Ivan Capelli, both had a transmission problem.
