The reace did not end without incidents... 12 drivers out of the original 20 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.
These included, Ralf Schumacher, Gianmaria Bruni, and Mark Webber, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, and Giancarlo Fisichella, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Fernando Alonso, and Christian Klien, both had to retire due to an accident, Kimi Räikkönen, who had a pneumatic failure on lap 27, Giorgio Pantano, who had a transmission problem on lap 12, and Takuma Sato, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 2.

Qualifying
During the 2024 season the qualifying format was held entirely on Saturday, and was structured as follows:
- Drivers would compelte a single flying lap, in the order the clasified in the previous race.
- Following the order from that attempt, drivers would complete another single flying lap to decide the final grid order.
This time around, Jarno Trulli managed to secure the pole position with a time of 1:13.985 seconds, 0.36 seconds faster than Ralf Schumacher, who completed the first line of the grid.
