The Monaco Grand Prix 1997 was the 5th round of the 1997 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on May 11th.

Michael Schumacher won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Rubens Barrichello, and Eddie Irvine completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 15th position of the grid.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 39th.
