These included, Johnny Herbert, Bertrand Gachot, Christian Fittipaldi, and Ukyo Katayama, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Paul Belmondo, who had physical problems on lap 53, David Brabham, and Mark Blundell, both suffered an engine malfunction, Éric Bernard, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 34, Rubens Barrichello, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 27, Mika Häkkinen, Damon Hill, Gianni Morbidelli, and Pierluigi Martini, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who withdrew on lap 0, and Karl Wendlinger, who was injured on lap 0.
