These included, Gregor Foitek, who retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars on lap 72, Derek Warwick, and Satoru Nakajima, both lost control and spun off the track, Nigel Mansell, and Alain Prost, both had a battery failure, Paolo Barilla, Jyrki Järvilehto, Philippe Alliot, Alessandro Nannini, and Martin Donnelly, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Riccardo Patrese, who had a problem with the distributor on lap 41, Andrea de Cesaris, and Emanuele Pirro, both suffered an engine malfunction, David Brabham, and Stefano Modena, both had a transmission problem, Ivan Capelli, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 13, Nicola Larini, who had a problem with the differential on lap 12, Aguri Suzuki, who had issues with the steering of the car on lap 11, Pierluigi Martini, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 7, and Gabriele Tarquini, Yannick Dalmas, Claudio Langes, Bertrand Gachot, and Bruno Giacomelli, all of whom did not prequalify.
