1988 Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix 1988 was the 3rd round of the 1988 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on May 15th.

Alain Prost won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Gerhard Berger, and Michele Alboreto completing the podium.

Ayrton Senna started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 66th.

These included, Ayrton Senna, and Alex Caffi, both lost control and spun off the track, Philippe Alliot, Nigel Mansell, and Nelson Piquet, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Maurício Gugelmin, who had a fuel system failure on lap 45, Piercarlo Ghinzani, and Alessandro Nannini, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Luis Pérez-Sala, who had problems with the halfshaft on lap 36, Andrea de Cesaris, René Arnoux, Eddie Cheever, and Stefan Johansson, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Oscar Larrauri, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 14, Gabriele Tarquini, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 5, Philippe Streiff, who had a throttle issue on lap 0, and Stefano Modena, who was excluded on lap 0.

Qualifying
