1981 Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix 1981 was the 6th round of the 1981 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on May 31st.

Gilles Villeneuve won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Alan Jones, and Jacques Laffite completing the podium.

Nelson Piquet started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 53rd.

These included, Nelson Piquet, and René Arnoux, both lost control and spun off the track, John Watson, Alain Prost, and Elio de Angelis, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Michele Alboreto, Bruno Giacomelli, Andrea de Cesaris, and Mario Andretti, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Carlos Reutemann, and Riccardo Patrese, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Nigel Mansell, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 15, and Siegfried Stohr, who had a fuel system failure on lap 14.
