1978 Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix 1978 was the 5th round of the 1978 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on May 7th.

Patrick Depailler won the race after starting in the 5th position, followed by Niki Lauda, and Jody Scheckter completing the podium.

Carlos Reutemann started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 8th.

These included, Gilles Villeneuve, and Hans-Joachim Stuck, both had to retire due to an accident, Ronnie Peterson, and Jacques Laffite, both experienced issues with the gearbox, James Hunt, who on lap 43, Rolf Stommelen, who felt unwell and had to retire on lap 38, Alan Jones, who had an oil leak on lap 29, Jacky Ickx, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 27, Rupert Keegan, who had a transmission problem on lap 8, and Keke Rosberg, Derek Daly, René Arnoux, Hector Rebaque, Brett Lunger, and Arturo Merzario, all of whom did not prequalify.
