Jody Scheckter won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Niki Lauda, and Carlos Reutemann completing the podium.

John Watson started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he experienced issues with the gearbox, and had to retire on lap 48th.
