1963 Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix 1963 was the 1st round of the 1963 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on May 26th.

Graham Hill won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Richie Ginther, and Bruce McLaren completing the podium.

Jim Clark started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 8th.

The reace did not end without incidents... 18 drivers out of the original 25 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham, Willy Mairesse, and Jim Hall, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Innes Ireland, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 40, Maurice Trintignant, who had a problem with the clutch on lap 34, Dan Gurney, who had a problem with the differential on lap 25, Jo Siffert, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 3, and Chris Amon, Phil Hill, Giancarlo Baghetti, John Campbell-Jones, Ian Burgess, Tony Settember, Nasif Estéfano, Lorenzo Bandini, and Carel Godin de Beaufort, all of whom withdrew.

Qualifying
