1959 Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix 1959 was the 1st round of the 1959 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on May 10th.

Jack Brabham won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Tony Brooks, and Maurice Trintignant completing the podium.

Stirling Moss started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had a transmission problem, and had to retire on lap 81st.

These included, Stirling Moss, who had a transmission problem on lap 81, Ron Flockhart, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 64, Harry Schell, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 48, Jo Bonnier, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 44, Jean Behra, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 24, Graham Hill, who saw the heat shield literally lit up in fire on lap 21, Masten Gregory, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 6, and Wolfgang von Trips, Cliff Allison, and Bruce Halford, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars.
