Lewis Hamilton won the race from the pole, followed by Heikki Kovalainen, and Kimi Räikkönen completing the podium.

The reace did not end without incidents... 10 drivers out of the original 22 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Jenson Button, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 66, Nick Heidfeld, who suffered a technical malfunction on lap 65, Takuma Sato, Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, and Alexander Wurz, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars, Ralf Schumacher, who had a puncture that could not be repaired on lap 55, Anthony Davidson, who had a throttle issue on lap 54, Nico Rosberg, who experienced problems with the electornics of the car on lap 49, and Fernando Alonso, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 41.

As the qualifying session went on, with the track rubbering in, and the drivers testing the limits of the grip of their cars, the times per lap dropped, and all of the drivers that took place in Q2 improved their times in this second session.

The Q3 is the time were all the remaining drivers put all their cards on the table, even those with a superior car who might have been managing their times in Q1 and Q2 push their cars to the limit in Q3. However, the conditions of the track worsened from Q2 to Q3, and none of the drivers were able to improve their Q2 times.
