Kimi Räikkönen won the race with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 17th position of the grid, followed by Giancarlo Fisichella, and Fernando Alonso completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 16th position of the grid.
Ralf Schumacher started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 8th.

After the fiasco of the two one-lap sessions that the F1 had envisioned for the 2005 seasosn, and that they decided to drop after just 6 races, the rest of the season's qualifyings were disputed on a single on-lap format, as it happened in this race.
This time around, Ralf Schumacher managed to secure the pole position with a time of 1:46.106 seconds, 0.035 seconds faster than Jenson Button, who completed the first line of the grid.
