Mika Häkkinen won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Eddie Irvine, and David Coulthard completing the podium.

Michael Schumacher started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he experienced issues with a tyre, and had to retire on lap 31st.
