These included, David Coulthard, Mika Salo, Olivier Panis, and Ukyo Katayama, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Tarso Marques, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 46, Shinji Nakano, who had a problem witht he wheel bearing on lap 22, Rubens Barrichello, and Jan Magnussen, both lost control and spun off the track, and Gianni Morbidelli, who was injured on lap 0.
