The Japanese Grand Prix 1996 was the 16th round of the 1996 F1 season, and took place at the Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka, Japan, on October 13th.

Damon Hill won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Michael Schumacher, and Mika Häkkinen completing the podium.

Jacques Villeneuve started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had a wheel problem, and had to retire on lap 36th.
