These included, Mark Blundell, and Jyrki Järvilehto, both suffered an engine malfunction, Rubens Barrichello, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 16, Martin Brundle, Gianni Morbidelli, Michele Alboreto, Johnny Herbert, Ukyo Katayama, Taki Inoue, and Hideki Noda, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Gerhard Berger, who had issues with the ignition on lap 10, and Franck Lagorce, and Pierluigi Martini, both retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars.
