These included, Érik Comas, who had a problem with the alternator on lap 41, Pierluigi Martini, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 39, Michael Schumacher, Johnny Herbert, Aguri Suzuki, Mika Häkkinen, and Jean Alesi, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Satoru Nakajima, and Nigel Mansell, both lost control and spun off the track, Gianni Morbidelli, who had a wheel problem on lap 15, Alessandro Zanardi, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 7, Andrea de Cesaris, Jyrki Järvilehto, Emanuele Pirro, and Karl Wendlinger, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, and Mark Blundell, and Naoki Hattori, both did not prequalify.
