Rubens Barrichello won the race after starting in the 4th position, followed by Michael Schumacher, and Eddie Irvine completing the podium.
Juan Pablo Montoya started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he experienced problems with the chassis of the car, and had to retire on lap 33rd.
