Michael Schumacher won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Jean Alesi, and Mika Häkkinen completing the podium.
Damon Hill started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 5th.
