1980 Italian Grand Prix

The Italian Grand Prix 1980 was the 12th round of the 1980 F1 season, and took place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy, on September 14th.

Nelson Piquet won the race after starting in the 5th position, followed by Alan Jones, and Carlos Reutemann completing the podium.

René Arnoux started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 10th.

These included, Jean-Pierre Jarier, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 54, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 53, Marc Surer, Mario Andretti, and Riccardo Patrese, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Derek Daly, and Emerson Fittipaldi, both had to retire due to an accident, John Watson, who had a problem witht he wheel bearing on lap 20, Hector Rebaque, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 18, Gilles Villeneuve, and Bruno Giacomelli, both had a puncture that could not be repaired, and Vittorio Brambilla, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 4.
