1961 Italian Grand Prix

The Italian Grand Prix 1961 was the 7th round of the 1961 F1 season, and took place at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Monza, Italy, on September 10th.

Phil Hill won the race after starting in the 4th position, followed by Dan Gurney, and Bruce McLaren completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 14th position of the grid.

Wolfgang von Trips started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had to retire due to an accident, and had to retire on lap 1st.

These included, Stirling Moss, who had a problem witht he wheel bearing on lap 36, Richie Ginther, Gaetano Starrabba, Giancarlo Baghetti, Nino Vaccarella, Graham Hill, Brian Naylor, Jack Fairman, Roberto Bussinello, Wolfgang Seidel, and Roberto Lippi, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Jo Bonnier, and Masten Gregory, both suffered a suspension problem, Ricardo Rodríguez, who had a fuel system failure on lap 13, Jack Brabham, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 8, Innes Ireland, who experienced problems with the chassis of the car on lap 5, John Surtees, Wolfgang von Trips, Jim Clark, and Gerry Ashmore, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, and Edgar Barth, Massimo Natili, Alfonso Thiele, Ernesto Prinoth, Menato Boffa, and Michael May, all of whom withdrew.
