The Indianapolis 500 1959 was the 2nd round of the 1959 F1 season, and took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, USA, on May 30th.

Rodger Ward won the race after starting in the 6th position, followed by Jim Rathmann, and Johnny Thomson, who originally had the pole position, completing the podium.

These included, Eddie Sachs, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 182, Al Keller, Bob Christie, and Jimmy Bryan, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Pat Flaherty, Ray Crawford, Chuck Weyant, Jud Larson, Mike Magill, Red Amick, and Len Sutton, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, Dick Rathmann, who saw the heat shield literally lit up in fire on lap 150, Bill Cheesbourg, Don Freeland, and Bobby Grim, all of whom had an issue with a magneto, Don Branson, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 112, and Jack Turner, who had a fuel leak on lap 47.
