The Indianapolis 500 1951 was the 2nd round of the 1951 F1 season, and took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, USA, on May 30th.

Lee Wallard won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Mike Nazaruk, and Jack McGrath completing the podium.

Duke Nalon started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had to retire, and had to retire on lap 151st.

These included, Tony Bettenhausen, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 178, Duke Nalon, who had to retire on lap 151, Gene Force, Sam Hanks, Bill Schindler, Walt Faulkner, Cecil Green, Troy Ruttman, and Mack Hellings, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Mauri Rose, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 126, Jimmy Davies, and Cliff Griffith, both had problems with an axle, Fred Agabashian, and Bill Mackey, both had a problem with the clutch, Carl Scarborough, and Chuck Stevenson, both saw the heat shield literally lit up in fire, Johnnie Parsons, and Walt Brown, both had an issue with a magneto, Duke Dinsmore, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 73, Chet Miller, who had issues with the ignition on lap 56, Rodger Ward, who had problems with the oil pipe on lap 34, Bill Vukovich, who had an oil leak on lap 29, George Connor, and Joe James, both had a transmission problem, and Johnny McDowell, who had a fuel leak on lap 15.
