These included, Giorgio Pantano, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 48, Jarno Trulli, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 41, Ricardo Zonta, who experienced problems with the electornics of the car on lap 31, Felipe Massa, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 21, and Kimi Räikkönen, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 13.

During the 2024 season the qualifying format was held entirely on Saturday, and was structured as follows:

  1. Drivers would compelte a single flying lap, in the order the clasified in the previous race.
  2. Following the order from that attempt, drivers would complete another single flying lap to decide the final grid order.

This time around, Michael Schumacher managed to secure the pole position with a time of 1:19.146 seconds, with his teammate Rubens Barrichello rigth behind him at 0.177 seconds, helping Ferrari score a one-two and monopolize the first line of the grid.
