1996 Hungarian Grand Prix

The Hungarian Grand Prix 1996 was the 12th round of the 1996 F1 season, and took place at the Hungaroring in Budapest, Hungary, on August 11th.

Jacques Villeneuve won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Damon Hill, and Jean Alesi completing the podium.

Michael Schumacher started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 9th.

The reace did not end without incidents... 12 drivers out of the original 20 who started did not managed to cross the finish line.

These included, Michael Schumacher, who had a throttle issue on lap 70, Giovanni Lavaggi, Jos Verstappen, and Martin Brundle, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Gerhard Berger, Johnny Herbert, and David Coulthard, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 50, Eddie Irvine, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 31, Pedro Lamy, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 24, and Pedro Diniz, and Mika Salo, both retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars.
