These included, Michael Schumacher, who had a throttle issue on lap 70, Giovanni Lavaggi, Jos Verstappen, and Martin Brundle, all of whom lost control and spun off the track, Gerhard Berger, Johnny Herbert, and David Coulthard, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 50, Eddie Irvine, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 31, Pedro Lamy, who suffered a suspension problem on lap 24, and Pedro Diniz, and Mika Salo, both retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars.
