1989 Hungarian Grand Prix

The Hungarian Grand Prix 1989 was the 10th round of the 1989 F1 season, and took place at the Hungaroring in Budapest, Hungary, on August 13th.

Nigel Mansell won the race with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 12th position of the grid, followed by Ayrton Senna, and Thierry Boutsen completing the podium.

Riccardo Patrese started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had a problem with the radiator of the car, and had to retire on lap 54th.

These included, Luis Pérez-Sala, who retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars on lap 57, Gerhard Berger, Stefan Johansson, Alessandro Nannini, and Bertrand Gachot, all of whom experienced issues with the gearbox, Riccardo Patrese, who had a problem with the radiator of the car on lap 54, Satoru Nakajima, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 33, Maurício Gugelmin, and Piercarlo Ghinzani, both suffered from electrical problems, Ivan Capelli, and Pierluigi Martini, both had a wheel problem, Michele Alboreto, who suffered an engine malfunction on lap 26, Andrea de Cesaris, who had a problem with the clutch on lap 0, and Nicola Larini, Philippe Alliot, Yannick Dalmas, Bernd Schneider, Gabriele Tarquini, Roberto Moreno, Gregor Foitek, Aguri Suzuki, and Pierre-Henri Raphanel, all of whom did not prequalify.
