The German Grand Prix 2005 was the 12th round of the 2005 F1 season, and took place at the Hockenheimring in Hockenheim, Germany, on July 24th.
Fernando Alonso won the race after starting in the 3rd position, followed by Juan Pablo Montoya, and Jenson Button completing the podium.
Kimi Räikkönen started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he experienced an hydraulic malfunction, and had to retire on lap 32nd.

After the fiasco of the two one-lap sessions that the F1 had envisioned for the 2005 seasosn, and that they decided to drop after just 6 races, the rest of the season's qualifyings were disputed on a single on-lap format, as it happened in this race.
This time around, Kimi Räikkönen managed to secure the pole position with a time of 1:14.320 seconds, 0.439 seconds faster than Jenson Button, who completed the first line of the grid.
