The German Grand Prix 2001 was the 12th round of the 2001 F1 season, and took place at the Hockenheimring in Hockenheim, Germany, on July 29th.

Ralf Schumacher won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Rubens Barrichello, and Jacques Villeneuve completing the podium with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 12th position of the grid.

Juan Pablo Montoya started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he suffered an engine malfunction, and had to retire on lap 24th.

These included, Jarno Trulli, who experienced an hydraulic malfunction on lap 34, David Coulthard, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Mika Häkkinen, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Tarso Marques, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 26, Michael Schumacher, and Eddie Irvine, both suffered a fuel pressure loss, Luciano Burti, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 23, Kimi Räikkönen, who had problems with the halfshaft on lap 16, and Ricardo Zonta, Nick Heidfeld, and Pedro de la Rosa, all of whom retired dure to damage caused by a collision with other cars.
