These included, Manfred Winkelhock, and Nelson Piquet, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Eddie Cheever, Michele Alboreto, Jacques Laffite, and Thierry Boutsen, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Teo Fabi, Jo Gartner, Jonathan Palmer, Elio de Angelis, and Marc Surer, all of whom had a turbo failure, Riccardo Patrese, who had a fuel system failure on lap 16, Piercarlo Ghinzani, and Keke Rosberg, both suffered from electrical problems, Philippe Alliot, who suffered from an overall car overhating on lap 7, and Ayrton Senna, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 4.
