The German Grand Prix 1979 was the 10th round of the 1979 F1 season, and took place at the Hockenheimring in Hockenheim, Germany, on July 29th.

Alan Jones won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Clay Regazzoni, and Jacques Laffite completing the podium.

Jean-Pierre Jabouille started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he lost control and spun off the track, and had to retire on lap 7th.
