1986 French Grand Prix

The French Grand Prix 1986 was the 8th round of the 1986 F1 season, and took place at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France, on July 6th.

Nigel Mansell won the race after starting in the 2nd position, followed by Alain Prost, and Nelson Piquet completing the podium.

Ayrton Senna started from the pole position, but didn't manage to cross the finish line, as he had to retire due to an accident, and had to retire on lap 3rd.

These included, Thierry Boutsen, who did not classify on lap 67, Patrick Tambay, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 64, Johnny Dumfries, Jonathan Palmer, and Teo Fabi, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Philippe Streiff, who saw the heat shield literally lit up in fire on lap 43, Huub Rothengatter, Ayrton Senna, Piercarlo Ghinzani, Alessandro Nannini, and Alan Jones, all of whom had to retire due to an accident, Allen Berg, Stefan Johansson, and Andrea de Cesaris, all of whom had a turbo failure, and Gerhard Berger, who experienced issues with the gearbox on lap 22.

Qualifying
