These included, Bruno Giacomelli, and Chico Serra, both experienced issues with the gearbox, Raul Boesel, Corrado Fabi, Roberto Guerrero, Derek Warwick, and John Watson, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Manfred Winkelhock, who had a turbo failure on lap 36, Niki Lauda, who had a problem witht he wheel bearing on lap 29, Mauro Baldi, who lost control and spun off the track on lap 28, Danny Sullivan, who had a problem with the clutch on lap 21, Elio de Angelis, who suffered from electrical problems on lap 20, Riccardo Patrese, who suffered a water leak on lap 19, and Nigel Mansell, who had physical problems on lap 6.
