1961 French Grand Prix

The French Grand Prix 1961 was the 4th round of the 1961 F1 season, and took place at the Reims-Gueux in Reims, France, on July 2nd.

Giancarlo Baghetti won the race with an expectacular comeback, all the way from the 12th position of the grid, followed by Dan Gurney, and Jim Clark completing the podium.

Phil Hill started from the pole position, but only managed to finish 9th.

These included, Richie Ginther, and Jack Brabham, both suffered a loss in oil pressure, Stirling Moss, who saw the breaks of the car give up on lap 31, Willy Mairesse, Wolfgang von Trips, Giorgio Scarlatti, and Bernard Collomb, all of whom suffered an engine malfunction, Carel Godin de Beaufort, Lucien Bianchi, Tony Brooks, and Jackie Lewis, all of whom suffered from an overall car overhating, John Surtees, who had to retire due to an accident on lap 4, and Wolfgang Seidel, Juan Manuel Bordeu, Hans Herrmann, Olivier Gendebien, and Brian Naylor, all of whom withdrew.

Qualifying
